The season started so promisingly. For the first time ever, we had white grapes on practically every vine.
Our variety is Bacchus. Something has prevented these vines from flourishing. It looks like Powdery Mildew.
The beautiful weather up to mid-July seemed set to last but it was not to be. With the rains and general dampness returned the mildew. We don't spray so it sems that is that for another year as far as the white is concerned.
Our Triomphe d'Alsace vines are altogether more obliging and this year there are more
and bigger grapes than ever.
From experience we know nothing phases them and they need no spraying.
Just a pity they don't make very good wine.
